ACHEA Barbados Public Presentation: Managing Stress in a Competitive and Demanding Work Environment

One of the most frequent complaints expressed by Higher Education Officials is one that is common to many work groups - My job is too stressful!  - I am under a lot of pressure - I don't have enough time to complete all my tasks. I feel tired all the time, I don’t have time to enjoy life – I am always feeling sick etc.

The Association of Caribbean Higher Education Administrators (ACHEA) is very proud to be staging this - 14th Annual Conference.  The theme - ‘Re-visioning, Re-assessing and Re-committing for Success in Higher Education’ was chosen for several reasons.  Firstly, we have to accept that it is the new paradigm for improved communication channels, and significant changes within the higher education landscape. Therefore, a new and innovative vision has to be crafted for higher education in the Caribbean region.

As ACHEA celebrates its’ twelfth year existence, I take great pleasure in welcoming you to our conference! This year we will be headed to Jamaica from July 11-13 and do look forward to having you there! Over the years we have made tremendous strides throughout the Caribbean by increased membership, increased opportunities for educational solutions and opportunities for networking. 

Funding Higher Education in Jamaica

The Association of Caribbean Higher Education Administrators (ACHEA) Jamaica Chapter invites you to a Public Forum to address the theme, Funding Higher Education in Jamaica. The Forum will be held on Monday, May 10, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Guest Speaker will be The Most Hon. Dr. Sandra Gift, Second Vice President – ACHEA, delivered an Open Lecture on the UWI Campus, St. Augustine, at the auditorium of the School of Education on July 27, 2007.

This lecture, Education and Emancipation, is part of the Public Lecture series, “Freedom Road” organized by the Department of History. The Honourable Minister, Mrs. Hazel Manning addressed the audience and a reception was hosted by the Ministry of Education following the lecture.
